Spurned Suitor Arrested for Sarah Goode's Murder

July 12, 2014 - A 19-year-old former Marine whose advances were rejected by 21-year-old Long Island mom Sarah Goode has been arrested in connection with her murder. Dante Taylor was arraigned on murder charges in a Central Islip courtroom as grisly details of Goode's death were revealed by prosecutors.

About 50 family members of Goode's were present in court, sometimes responding verbally as prosecutor Janet Albertson described how Goode was killed.

Albertson told the court that Taylor brutally raped Goode then beat her with a sharp metal object so badly that a piece of metal was found in her skull. The inside of Goode's vehicle was covered in blood. Taylor then dumped her body, nude from the waist down, in the woods.

Taylor was arrested last week in Vero Beach, Florida on unrelated charges. Prosecutors said a bloody handprint in Goode's car and text messages between him and Goode on the night she went missing linked him to the murder.

Taylor was initially charged with second-degree murder and ordered held without bond. Albertson said more charges are expected when the Grand Jury meets this week.

Searchers Find Sarah Goode's Body

June 12, 2014 - Almost a week after she vanished, a group of searchers found the body of 21-year-old Sarah Goode in the woods within a mile from where her abandoned 1999 BMW was found the day after she was reported missing.

A search party of about 45 people were searching the woods off Camden Court in Medford when Goode's body was found about 6:15 p.m. Thursday. The body has not been officially identified by authorities, but Goode's family members told reporters that they believe the remains are Goode's.
An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of death, but detectives said the case is considered a homicide.

Goode, a medical technician, was last seen Friday, June 6, after she spent the evening watching television with friends.

Mom of 4-Year-Old Vanishes

June 8, 2014 - A 21-year-old Long Island mother of a 4-year-old was reported missing by her family after they had not seen her for two days. The family of Sarah P. Goode called Suffolk County police Sunday and said they had not seen her since Friday, June 6.

About an hour later, Goode's gray 1999 BMW was found parked in a wooded area in Medford, far from the Long Island home where Goode lived with her mother and daughter. Although the car was not broken into, police said it was found under "suspicious circumstances."

Suffolk County Detective Michael Fitzharris would not say what those circumstances were and would not say if Goode's personal belongings were in the vehicle.

Police used K-9 units to search the wooded area where the car was found.

"This is a 21-year-old gainfully employed Long Island girl. Everyone has to have their vehicle out here. For her family to not see her for a few days … we take that very seriously," Fitzharris told reporters.
Goode is described a 5'-3" and 100 pounds.

She has long brown hair, brown eyes and has a flower tattoo on one foot, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS, Fitzharris said.
